NOTE: If you would like to skip to the recording of the live training, just scroll down, turn on your computer’s speaker and press play, I only ask that you leave feedback at the bottom about the training so I can improve the next one – IT MEANS A GREAT DEAL TO ME. THANKS!

One of the questions I get often is how did I sell my first ever info product online. In this blog post, I’ll try to explain how it happened, I hope the US Federal government doesn’t read it, because I probably broke a few laws, but it’s been a decade since it happened, so even if they read it, hopefully the “statute of limitations” has expired, even that I didn’t know that I broke the law when I did it, in fact I had no clue what I was doing to be 100% honest, it’s more like I stumbled upon this process that I’ll share with you (and you don’t need to break the law)!

I was born a in a village in a communist country in East Europe. Selling was something that I never did and communists in Serbia hated the “Rotten Western Capitalists” who just wanted to sell them something – which was considered evil to try to make a profit (their dream was that everyone would give everything for free)!

I’m probably not someone who was likely to sell thousands of times online, however I did figure it out, so this is the story how it happened to me and maybe the same can be your reality soon.

A long time ago I went to a REIA (Real Estate Investor Association) meeting and one of the speakers was Ron Legrand a legendary Real Estate Investing Public Speaker. That night Ron changed my life. Want to know what Ron said to me (and 200 other people)?

Ron said during his presentation something like this:

“Whatever knowledge you have, you can package it into media and duplicate yourself and sell it online”. It’s been a decade ago, so I probably did injustice to Ron, but roughly what I remembered and what I took home (I’m sure someone will email me what he exactly said).

Now I did something that I later discovered very few people ever do in their entire life, I TOOK ACTION! When I got home I asked myself before I went to bed, this question:

“What knowledge do I have that I can package in media and replicate myself online” that would be of value to someone else and give them real world value”?

When I woke up, I took a shower and for some reason water gives me ideas, and it hit me! I had to pay to get the foreclosure data from the courthouse and I could sell the foreclosure data. Maybe it can be a future blog post, but that business was a 100% disaster! I failed selling foreclosure data!

For some reason I didn’t give up, so I went back to the same question I started with in the first place ; “what did I have of value that could help someone else by sharing it packed in media online”.

This time I took a swim swim in the Gulf of Mexico, and it hit me! I can try to explain how I got the foreclosure data, because it was not easy, It took me a long time to figure this out and I was sure if I explained it, this would help someone else. However I was not sure if this would be real world value to someone else that they would be happy to pay for.

Well, one thing I know is that I don’t have the answers. One way to find out is to try it out. Even that I never wrote a sales letter in my entire life, I decided to give it a try since I had no money to pay someone to do it for me and jumped on write one.

I took me almost an entire day to finish my first sales letter online. IT WAS UGLY, GRUESOME, HORRIBLE AND NOTHING LIKE THE ONES I MAKE TODAY! The amazing thing was that I made my first sale this disgusting, unprofessional writing that any normal person would be ashamed of! It was an amazing feeling I JUPED UP AND DOWN IN MY LIVING ROOM! All shame of this sales letter went away!

I’m not making this up! Try selling something online even if ti’s for 1 dollars when you make that first sale it’s an AMAZING feeling regardless of how good or bad the sales process was, and I can guarantee you one thing, no matter how hard you try, your sales process can’t be as bad as mine was! At least for me it was amazing to make my first sale.

Now the NON-LAW BRAKING PART. FTC (Federal Trade Commission) if you are reading this, I’m sorry, more then a decade ago I had no clue this would be agains the law.

So how did I break the future law? Because I fell in love with my idea, I jumped into the test and the sales letter that I forgot to disclose that I had no product yet, what I’m trying to say I didn’t have the finished product when I wrote the ugly sales letter. To be honest, I just didn’t believe that I could sell, in fact I was somewhat shocked that there was a sale via this monster of a what probably shouldn’t even be called a sales letter, yet someone paid real world money in advance! AMAZING! I WAS IN SHOCK!

So I hunkered down and wrote the training in 4 days (8 hours a day) even that I never wrote anything in my life and that I had no degree or training in English. Thank God my English was so horrible and grammar sucked so much that the buyer was disgusted and told me I had 47 spelling and grammar errors before he couldn’t read anymore (the poor guy probably through up while reading) and wanted a refund.

I send him a refund via Paypal, back then I didn’t know what a merchant account was, so I used Paypal.

Here’s the key. I disclosed after that and said that I can’t spell, I don’t know grammar but I know how to get foreclosure data, and if you want perfect English, move on, if you want to learn how to do it, then this is your training and it’s worth your investment. The sales went up and refunds went down! I sold thousands and since then, I created dozens of info products!

Now what I have realized over the years is that most people never ever create their very first information product. I understand with the laws people are scared not to get into trouble with the American Government, but it can be done legally and to be honest after that first mistake over a decade ago, where I refunded the first buyer, I never broke the law again. IT CAN BE DONE LEGALLY!

Have you ever tried to make your own info product? Did it work, was it worth you time? Or do you plan to make one? Please feel free to comment, I would love to hear about your experience or ideas or real life problems and frustrations you might have run into.

If this topic interest you, check out the video, what I’m going to do is create an info product from scratch, market it, sell it, create the infrastructure for delivering and document the entire process as I go along. If this is something you would like to see me do for the next few months check out this video below (press play and turn on the speakers):

Sincerely,

Dan Stojadinovic
